SOMATIC EXPERIENCING is a trauma treatment for individuals who might carry the fragmented remnants of past trauma in their bodies. The goal of somatic experiencing is to release traumatic stress and the accompanying feelings of helplessness, fear, pain, and anxiety through psychological and physical cues. This treatment uses movement, images, breathing and vocalizations to create new experiences in the body that displace negative emotions.
