Who We Are
MEG ROWLEY, LCSW, LICSW (TELEHEALTH ONLY)
Meg Rowley, LCSW, LICSW has been an integral member of the adherent treatment team at BHBA for the past five years. She received her graduate degree from Columbia University School of Social Work, where she was intensively trained in the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) training program and lab under Andre Ivanoff, Ph.D. Meg is dedicated to the DBT modality which she believes combines an ideal balance of mindfulness and behavioral therapy. She is currently in the process of working toward DBT-Linehan Board certification.
Meg’s passion lies with treating and assisting people in healing from PTSD and traumatic memories. She is trained and has received certification in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy through EMDRI (EMDR International Association) . Additionally Meg is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE) protocol, which is designed to treat PTSD and trauma symptoms among suicidal, self-injuring and multi-diagnostic individuals receiving DBT. She was trained in this particular modality by researcher and developer, Dr. Melanie Harned.
Meg hopes to embody the words of Michele Rosenthal in her work with trauma survivors, “Trauma creates change you don’t choose. Healing is about creating change you do choose.”
Meg has expertise in the following modalities: Exposure and Response Prevention (Ex/RP) therapy which is highly effective at treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and anxiety. Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT) developed by Tom Lynch, a modality created to help individuals with disorders of over-control. She has attended conferences and has engaged in extensive studies of the treatment of disordered eating and body image dissatisfaction. Meg is grateful to have the opportunity to utilize these various treatments to assist her clients in achieving their life worth living.
She received her Bachelor’s degree from Siena College in 2011 with a major in English, a double minor in creative arts and philosophy, and a theater certificate. She has lived in many places; among them Park City, Utah in which she worked at Peace House, a domestic violence shelter as the primary case manager. In her first year at Columbia she interned at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office Witness Aid Services Unit where she worked as a Victim Services Advocate, providing counseling and navigation of the legal system.
Meg currently lives in Northern Vermont. When she is not working at BHBA, you can find her outside. She is an avid downhill skier, marathon runner and mountain biker. Her favorite way to practice the DBT skill of Accumulating positives, is by cuddling her two dogs while sitting by a campfire with her husband.
Meg is licensed to practice clinical social work and works with clients in both New York and Vermont.
