EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING (EMDR)
EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that's been proven to help address unprocessed traumatic events. For individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma memories are not properly processed by the brain, resulting in psychological and physical distress tied to the trauma. EMDR has shown that through eye movement and sensory stimulation (such as moving eyes back and forth), trauma memories can be properly processed and allow for the alleviation of PTSD.
