Who We Are
Alena O'Conner, LMSW
Alena O’Connor is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) at Brooklyn Heights Behavioral Associates (BHBA). She has experience working with individuals across the lifespan in school, hospital, and clinical settings. Her areas of focus include high-risk behaviors, emotion dysregulation, anxiety, and depression.
Alena earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University, where she completed clinical internships as a counselor at a public middle school and as an addiction social work intern at NYU Langone Hospital. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Georgetown University.
Alena completed an intensive two-week training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and is drawn to DBT’s structured and compassionate approach to helping clients build meaningful, fulfilling lives. She provides comprehensive, person-centered, and strengths-based care, tailoring treatment to each client’s individual needs and goals. Alena believes that a collaborative and culturally informed approach is essential to building a strong therapeutic relationship and supporting clients in developing the skills and confidence to achieve their goals.
