How We Treat
Virtual Reality psychotherapy
BHBA OFFERS VIRTUAL REALITY EVIDENCE-BASED THERAPY FOR ALL AGES. This technology, PSIOUS (click here for more information) , is the most advanced mental health technology to date and is designed to treat multiple mental health issues ranging from PTSD, depression, addictive disorders, eating disorders, anxieties (OCD, public speaking, social and generalized anxiety, test anxiety), phobias (claustrophobia, agoraphobia, fear of animals, heights, flying, driving, and the dark), somatic related concerns/pain management and medical procedure anxieties. There are trainings for attention focus and control, sports performance and sleep, as well as general stress management tools. The deep relaxation mindfulness training environments are useful just on their own.
All treatment interventions within the VR technology are based in behavioral science and are evidence-based. Your BHBA therapists already specialize in these modalities, which include desensitization/exposure therapy, exposure and response prevention, mindfulness, distress tolerance, as well as relaxation skills. Cognitive interventions are woven into VR sessions just like they are in person. Your BHBA VR behavioral specialist will attend every session with you, communicate with you throughout and guide your progress.
This treatment can be conducted in person (enhanced with biofeedback sensors) or remotely through telehealth therapy with a simple and very affordable adaptation with your smart phone. No expensive VR headset is required! You will have access to your VR training environment for daily practice, which can speed up your progress by allowing for more flexibility and increased privacy.
